Karl Gustav Mathias Franzén (born February 22, 1975 ) is a former Swedish handball player and a current handball coach .

Franzén started playing handball at HK Aranäs when he was six . In 1995 he moved to the Swedish record champions Redbergslids IK , with whom he won a total of five championships. His older brother Mikel and his twin brother Anders were also active for Redbergslids. In 2001, the outside player moved to the Spanish top club FC Barcelona . With Barcelona he won the championship and the EHF Cup in the 2002/03 season . In 2004 the trained chef joined the German Bundesliga club HSG Nordhorn . After three seasons he ended his career there. Two years later, Franzén took over as coach from HK Varberg, who was then playing in Swedish Division 2. In the 2010/11 season Varberg was promoted to Division 1. After the 2011/12 season, he ended his coaching at HK Varberg.

Franzén played 123 times for the Swedish national team , with whom he won the European championship in 2000 and 2002 and the 1999 world championship. In addition, the right-hander won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games.
