The HSV Insel Usedom eV is a German handball club on the island of Usedom . It was created in April 2006 after HSV Blau Weiß Insel Usedom went bankrupt. The handball division of SV Ückeritz joined the new club. The club is represented by 18 handball teams in ongoing games.

Men's team

The club's flagship is the first men's team. The basic structure of the squad emerged from our own youth work. The team is looked after by the former Polish national player Piotr Frelek (player-coach).

The economic sponsor of the first men's team, which played in the third division from 2010 to 2013 , is HSV Insel Usedom Marketing GmbH & Co. KG. After relegation from the 3rd league in the 2012/13 season , the 2013/14 team played in the Oberliga Ostsee-Spree ; As champions of the 2014/15 season, the team rose to the 3rd division. After only one season, Usedom returned to the league.

Youth work

The handball location Ahlbeck is the performance base of the handball association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for the male youth. There are numerous selected players in the ranks of the junior teams. The German national player Johannes Sellin and the Polish national player Mateusz Zaremba emerged from the club .
