Haageocereus zangalensis is a species of plant in the genus Haageocereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet refers to the distribution area near Zangal in the Peruvian province of Cajamarca .

description

Haageocereus zangalensis grows with branched, spreading, green shoots from the base , which reach a length of 1 to 1.5 meters with a diameter of up to 6 centimeters. There are twelve to 14 ribs that are up to 8 millimeters high and on which there are brown woolly areoles . The ten to twelve strong, needle-like central spines are reddish brown. The approximately 17 needle-like radial spines have a length of 6 to 8 millimeters.

Nothing is known about the flowers and fruits .

Distribution and systematics

Haageocereus zangalensis is common in Peru in the Cajamarca region.

It was first described in 1981 by Friedrich Ritter .
