The province of Cajamarca is one of the 13 provinces that make up the Cajamarca region in northern Peru . It has an area of 2979.8 km². At the 2017 census, 348,433 people lived in the province. Ten years earlier the population was 316,152.
Geographical location
The province of Cajamarca is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . It borders the province of Hualgayoc to the north, the provinces of Celendín , San Marcos and Cajabamba to the east, the La Libertad region to the south and the provinces Contumazá and San Pablo to the west .
