The province of Santa Cruz is located in the Cajamarca region in northwestern Peru . The province has an area of ​​1418 km². At the 2017 census, 37,164 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 44,571, in 2007 it was 43,856. The administrative seat of the province is the small town of Santa Cruz de Succhabamba .

Geographical location

The province of Santa Cruz is located in the west of the Cajamarca region, about 75 km northwest of the regional capital Cajamarca . The province is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The Río Chancay flows through the province in a westerly direction.

The province of Santa Cruz borders the province of Chota in the north, the province of Hualgayoc in the east, the province of San Miguel in the south and the province of Chiclayo ( Lambayeque region ) in the west .
