The province of San Pablo is one of the 13 provinces in the south of the Cajamarca region in northwestern Peru . It has an area of 672 km². In the 2017 census, the population was 21,102. 10 years earlier it was 23,114. The administrative seat is in San Pablo .
Geographical location
The province of San Pablo is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . It is bounded in the north by the province of Hualgayoc , in the east by the province of Cajamarca , in the south by the province of Contumazá and in the west by the province of San Miguel . In it is the former temple complex Kuntur Wasi .

history
During the Saltpeter War on July 13, 1882, Peruvian troops under Miguel Iglesias and Chilean troops fought near San Pablo . In it the Chilean troops who had occupied the zone could be defeated.
