The province of Jaén is a province in the north of the Cajamarca region in northern Peru . It has an area of ​​5232.57 km². At the 2017 census, 185,432 people lived in the province. Ten years earlier the population was 183,634. The administrative seat is the city of Jaén .

Geographical location

The province of Jaén extends in the west to the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The Río Marañón runs along the eastern provincial border.
