The district of Llacanora is located in the province of Cajamarca in the region of Cajamarca in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​49.42 km². The 2017 census counted 5639 inhabitants. In 1993, the population was in 4371, in 2007 at the 4905th seat of the district administration is at an altitude of 2606  m nearby places Llacanora with 717 inhabitants (2017). Llacanora is located 11 km east-south-east of the provincial and regional capital Cajamarca . To the west of Llacanora is the Cueva Callacpuma cave.

Geographical location

The district of Llacanora is located in the Andean highlands east of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the southeast of the province of Cajamarca. The Río Cajamarca flows through the district in an east-southeast direction.

The Llacanora district borders in the far west on the Cajamarca district , in the north on the Los Baños del Inca district , in the east on the Namora district and in the south on the Jesús district .
