The Namora District is located in the Cajamarca Province in the Cajamarca Region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on August 14, 1920. It has an area of ​​180.69 km². The 2017 census counted 9267 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 8011, in 2007 it was 9466. The district administration is located in the small town of Namora with 1720 inhabitants at an altitude of 2733  m (as of 2017). Namora is 22 km east-southeast of the provincial and regional capital Cajamarca .

Geographical location

The Namora district is located in the Andean highlands east of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the southeast of the Cajamarca province. The Río Namora, a left tributary of the Río Cajamarca , flows through the district in a southerly direction.

The Namora district is bordered to the west by the district Llacanora , in the northwest on the district Los Baños del Inca , the north by the district La Encañada , on the east by the district Gregorio Pita , the south by the Matara district and on the southwest by the district Jesús .
