Miguel Becerra González (born March 11, 1979 in Etzatlán , Jalisco ) is a former Mexican football goalkeeper .

career

Becerra went through the junior division of Deportivo Guadalajara , where he also received his first professional contract. In the seasons 2000/01 and 2001/02 he was part of the squad of the first team of Chivas, but did not come over two appearances in the top Mexican division . He then worked on loan for the second division playing Chivas farm team Club Deportivo Tapatío .

For the 2003/04 season he joined the league competitor Dorados de Sinaloa , for whom he completed a total of 23 league stakes and with which he was promoted to the first division. However, he did not receive a contract for the newly formed team of the Dorados, which should assert itself in the top division. Therefore, he joined the newly formed franchise of the Huracanes de Colima, which only existed in the 2004/05 season . When these were dissolved after only one year, Becerra moved to the Querétaro Fútbol Club , with whom he succeeded in another promotion to the top division in the 2005/06 season and where he also signed a contract for the 2006/07 first division was offered.

After overall good performances at the Gallos Blancos, Becerra was signed in 2007 by the northern Mexican club Santos Laguna . In this he grew up in his first half season , the Apertura 2007 , to be the goalkeeper with a total of 16 stakes. After the long-injured national goalkeeper Osvaldo Sánchez recovered, Becerra was pushed back into the role of reservist. Nevertheless, he still had his great moments, such as a saved penalty in the finals of the Apertura 2011 against the UANL Tigres , although in the end it was only enough for the runner-up. In the seasons Clausura 2008 (without use) and Clausura 2012 , Becerra won the Mexican football championship twice with Santos Laguna .

After the end of his active career Becerra went into the coaching business. After six years with the Texans Soccer Club , for which he worked from 2013 to 2019, he is now working for the Dash Youth Soccer Club , the youth organization of Houston Dynamo .
