The Haagsweiher near Feucht is a pond in the community-free area Feuchter Forst in the district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria .

location

The small pond is located about 1.3 kilometers northeast of the center of the market town of Feucht .

description

The pond, which is unnamed on the current topographic maps, is locally named after a former tenant Haagsweiher . The approximately one hectare large artificial still water is flown through from east to west by the Gauchsbach . In the eastern part there is a small island .

The pond was created in the 1960s. On November 15, 1962, the Nuremberg District Office , which was responsible at the time, granted the State Forests Administration (today Bayerische Staatsforsten ) permission to build measures on the Gauchsbach. The measure extended for about three kilometers between the former forester's house Gauchsmühle and the Gauchsbach bridge on the St2239 at the entrance to Feucht. The purpose was to reduce the slope of the river bed and to avoid further bank breaks with a lower flow velocity. In addition, the construction of the pond was intended to achieve water retention as flood protection for damp.

The newly created pond was leased as a fish pond by the Haag family from Feuchter . Mainly trout , but also carp and tench were raised . The tenant built a fisherman's hut on the north bank of the pond to care for and look after the fish stock , which is now used for recreational purposes.

The pond was previously used by skaters in the winter months, but this was later banned for reasons of animal welfare. In the 1980s, attempts were made at times to heat the Feuchter outdoor pool , 250 meters to the west, using heat exchangers . The result was not very satisfactory and the project was abandoned.

Today (2019) the Haagsweiher is no longer used and offers flora and fauna a natural area. In the eastern part it has already silted up again . Immediately to the west there are still some smaller and used fish farming tanks today (2019).
