Johannes Haarklou or Johannes Hårklou (born May 13, 1847 in Førde , † November 26, 1925 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian composer.

Haarklou worked as a teacher in Eiker since 1868 . From 1873 to 1875 he studied at the Conservatory in Leipzig with Carl Reinecke, among others, and was then a student of Friedrich Kiel , August Bungert and Carl August Haupt at the University of Music in Berlin . From 1880 he lived as organist and conductor in Kristiania (Oslo). He was considered an important organ virtuoso and improviser.

His main work is the oratorio Skabelsen og Mennesket , which was premiered in 1891. He also composed five operas , four symphonies , a symphonic poem ( Westminster Abbey ), two organ symphonies , sonatas , songs , choirs and piano pieces. In addition, he worked from 1882 to 1921 as a music critic for various Norwegian newspapers.
