The hair-shielded neck buck ( Stictoleptura scutellata , syn .: Leptura scutellata ) is a species from the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae).

features

The 14 to 20 millimeter long beetle has a bell-shaped pronotum and is completely black in color. The label is silvery in the male, golden-yellow in the stocky female (Fig. 1)

Occurrence

The distribution area of ​​the species extends from southern Europe to central Europe to southern northern Europe and to the east via Asia Minor, the Caucasus and Armenia to northern Iran. The hair-shielded collarbear is rare everywhere in Central Europe and occurs mainly where there are old, original beech or oak stocks, such as in former princely or state hunting areas that were not exposed to the usual clearing. They are more common at higher altitudes than in the lowlands.

Way of life

The development takes place in beech , more rarely in oak , hornbeam , alder , birch , chestnut or hazelnut . The larva lives in dying, dry branches or trunks, with solid and hard wooden parts being preferred. The adults occur from June to September and either sit on the breeding trees or fly around during the day visiting flowers.
