The Feste Hachenfels is a lost castle between Idar-Oberstein - Weierbach and Kirn in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Birkenfeld .

location

The festival was on the Hachenfels (= Hohenfels), high above the Nahe valley , on the federal road 41 in the Hunsrück . Opposite the former hilltop castle is the Naumburg castle ruins .

history

The builders were the Lords of Hachenfels, the former owner was Hugo von Hachenfels. The castle was first mentioned in 1075 in a document from the Archbishop of Trier , which confirmed that Hugo von Hachenfels had sold his property in the village of Olkenbach, which today belongs to Bausendorf , to the Simeon Foundation in Trier for 260 silver marks . In 1112 a Cuno de Hachenfels was mentioned as a witness in a document in the copy book of the Disibodenberg monastery .
