The dulcimer family is an extinct Bernese patrician family belonging to the guild society zu Schmieden .

history

The family received citizenship rights from the city of Bern in 1532 . The first three generations of the dulcimer were all surgeons , two of them were also Inselmeister (administrators of the Inselspital ). Within a very short time, the dulcimer succeeded in advancing into the ranks of the ruling families without marrying into the corresponding sexes. With Vincenz dulcimer, a representative of the family was elected to the Small Council for the first time in 1656. Until 1798, the city of Bern had two Venners , several bailiffs, council members and officers.

Members of the family owned the Kehrsatz , Perroy, shares in Gerzensee and other estates in Vaud.

Family coat of arms

The dulcimer family had different coats of arms in the 16th and 17th centuries. The oldest known shape is that of a chopping board hanging from a tree . Since the 18th century the family had two golden rafters in blue diagonally to the right. In the 19th century, the municipality of Kehrsatz used the coat of arms of the dulcimer family as the municipality's coat of arms, since 1937 with an attached golden star.
