Mugfest

The Haferlfest , also known as Ilzer Haferlfest, is an annual folk festival in Passau in July .

It was brought into being in 1887 under the original name "Hafenfest" by the Passau district judge Anton Niederleuthner and the painter Ferdinand Wagner . The venue is the Passau Ilzstadt . The name of the festival can be traced back to the clay jugs, the so-called "Haferl" (formerly "Hafen"), which were used as entry tickets for the festival.

Between 1937 and 1939, Gustl Schmid's summer festival was put back on its feet. The festival was organized annually by him and the citizens of the Ilzstadt from 1950 after the continuation was interrupted by the war and post-war years. The redevelopment of Ilzstadt put an end to the Haferlfest in the early 1960s.

The organization has been taken over by members of the Ilzer clubs and voluntary helpers since 1979.

During the Haferlfest, a section of the B 388 between the Ilzbrücke and the town exit along the Ilz / Danube will be closed. Beer sets , sales stalls and stages for music groups will be set up on this section .
