The Hainbuchtunnel is a 1520 m long railway tunnel on the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg north of the small town of Melsungen in Hessen . The structure accommodates two tracks with a ballast superstructure that can be driven on at 250 km / h.

Location and course

The gradient drops in a southerly direction. The route describes a right curve in a southerly direction.

The Breitenbach valley bridge follows the tunnel to the north. To the south, after a short open section, the Kaiserau tunnel connects .

history

The structure was planned in 1984 with a length of 1482 m and investment costs of 39.9 million DM. It was to be built between October 1986 and December 1988.

The tunnel was part of planning section 13 in the middle section of the new line.

The tunnel was on 5 August 1986 struck . During the construction phase it was called Anna-Maria Stollen . It was set up by a consortium of the companies PZ, Porr and Stuag.

It was put into operation in 1991 as part of the new Göttingen – Kassel section.
