Hakeem Belo-Osagie

Hakeem Belo-Osagie (* 1955 in Lagos , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian investor and entrepreneur . He was Chairman of the Board of the United Bank for Africa .

Life

Hakeem Belo-Osagie attended the Atlantic College in Wales after Kings College in Lagos . After finishing school, he graduated with a Master in Philosophy , Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford and a bachelor in law at King's College (Cambridge) of the University of Cambridge from. He rounded off his academic training in 1980 with a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School .

Belo-Osagie began his professional career working in the energy sector for the Nigerian government. In 1986 he left the civil service and founded CTIC, which developed into one of the leading energy consultancy firms. In finance, he founded First Securities Discount House, Nigeria's leading financial services provider in the money market and government bond trading . One of the shareholders is the World Bank . When the Nigerian state decided to privatize United Bank for Africa, it teamed up with Nigerian and international investors and bought them. Subsequently he was chairman of one of the largest banks in Nigeria. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd ("EMTS"), a wireless communications company operating in Nigeria under the Etisalat brand . He is a director of Metis Capital Partners and has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Abuja Investment Company by the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory . He is also the chairman of the Nigerian National Committee for the United World Colleges , which is responsible for the selection of Nigerian students in these international schools.
