Hal Corl
Hal Burt Corl (born April 29, 1893 in Salisbury , Rowan County , † December 1963 in Manatee County , Florida ) was an American film technician who won an Oscar for technical merit in 1948 and 1956 and in 1956 also with the trophy in the field of science and development was awarded.
Working life
Hal Corl, a longtime associate of Paramount Pictures, was employed in the studio's tech section working with Farciot Edouart , Charles R. Daily and HG Cartwright . The three men were awarded the Class III certificate in 1948 for their outstanding work for the Paramount Studios photography and design department. They received the award, the so-called “Technology Oscar”, “for the first application of a special anti-solarizing glass to high-intensity background with a high depth background using a point-arc projector” and spot arc projectors ").
At the 1956 Oscars, Corl and Farciot Edouart were once again awarded an Oscar for technical merit . The men received this award “for testing a selectable background slide projector” (“for the engineering and development of a double-frame, triple-head background projector”). They also received an award in the field of science and development “for the invention and development of a double-framed, three-headed background projector” (for an improved dual stereopticon background projector).
