The Urfahrn peninsula is a flat peninsula only about 38 hectares in size on the north-west bank of the Chiemsee opposite the Herreninsel, 300 meters away . It is bounded in the west by the Kailbacher Winkel , on the west bank of which the larger Sassau peninsula connects, and in the east by the Mühlner Winkel . The peninsula belongs to the municipality of Breitbrunn am Chiemsee in the district of Rosenheim . The municipal boundary follows the shoreline throughout. With its entire shoreline, the peninsula borders the community-free area of the Chiemsee, which belongs to the Traunstein district.

The peninsula is only 260 meters wide at its narrowest point. It protrudes about a kilometer into the lake to the Scheren headland at its southern end, which is 300 meters away from the northern tip of the Herreninsel. Its highest point, about 12 meters above lake level, lies between the hamlets of Urfahrn and Stadl , which at the time of the last census (May 25, 1987) had 43 and 23 residents in 18 and seven buildings with living space, respectively. There are no other inhabited places on the peninsula. The village of Wolfsberg joins in the northwest. At the 1875 census, Urfahrn and Stadl had 31 and 13 residents in 14 and 3 buildings, respectively.

From the Urfahrn peninsula, King Ludwig II had himself transferred to Herrenchiemsee for his inspections - the Königstrasse from Wolfsberg to Urfahrn still shows this today.

In 1950 the doctor and writer Felix Schlagintweit died on the Urfahrn peninsula, in 1976 the landscape painter Eugen Croissant .

The private yacht harbor Jell is on the east side of the peninsula , and the Yacht-Club Urfahrn eV has its club house nearby.
