traffic

Halesworth is connected to Ipswich and Lowestoft by the East Suffolk Line . A railway line from Halesworth to Southwold operated between 1879 and 1924 could, according to new plans, form the basis for a new railway line.

In 1761, the construction of a canal made Blyth navigable and the mooring of coal freighters possible.

Halesworth Airfield, located outside, is now privately owned. In 1943, due to the war, construction of the airfield began. Initially, the 56th Fighter Group of the 8th United States Army Air Forces was stationed here. In 1944 the airfield also became a base for the 489th bomber group involved in Operation Overlord . The bomber group returned to America in November and the airfield was used by the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron from January to June 1945. Flight operations ended in 1946.
