Halina Łukomska

Halina Łukomska (born April 29, 1929 in Suchedniów , † August 30, 2016 in Kąty ) was a Polish singer ( soprano ).

Łukomska studied music at the Warsaw Music Academy and singing with Stanisława Zawadzka and Maria Halfterowa . She continued her training with Giorgio Favaretto at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (1958) and in Venice with Toti Dal Monte (1959–1960). In 1956 she won first prize at the Hertogenbosch International Singing Competition. In 1960 she began her international career as a concert singer.

Her repertoire focused on works by contemporary composers such as Luigi Nono , Witold Lutosławski , Pierre Boulez , Bruno Maderna , Kazimierz Serocki , Arnold Schoenberg , Anton Webern , Alban Berg and Igor Stravinski . She also sang the world premiere of several compositions ( Espressioni , Meditations , Salmo gioioso ) by her husband Augustyn Bloch . She appeared at festivals in Edinburgh, Perugia, Vienna, Warsaw and Toulouse, at the Holland Festival and the Salzburg Festival , and in 1973 toured North America with the Cleveland Orchestra .
