Hall aux veaux in La Ferté-Gaucher

The Halle aux veaux (German calf hall ) in La Ferté-Gaucher , a French commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region , was built between 1880 and 1882. The market hall , on what was then the edge of the village, served the calf market , which had existed since 1847.

The building consists of a steel construction with cast iron girders , as had already been built by Victor Baltard in Paris. The hall had room for 168 calves, it was used as a market hall until 1919 and then converted into a festival hall.

The last complete renovation took place in 1996/97.
