Hals is a spot-like town in the Vendsyssel in Denmark . 2454 inhabitants live in the village (as of January 1, 2020). Hals is located about 31 km east of Aalborg and about 7 km south of Hou .

Hals is located at the eastern entrance to the Limfjord , which has been crossed by a ferry to Egense since 1961. The place lives largely from tourism . The fortress of Hals is remarkable with four bastions and surrounding moats . In front of the trenches are ravelins and the associated glacis .

Neck parish

Hals received city rights in 1656 after the customs post in the Limfjord had been relocated from Aalborg to Hals a year earlier. The customs offices were in operation until 1911.

From 1970 until the municipal reform on January 1, 2007, Hals was the center of the municipality of the same name in the Nordjyllands Amt with 11,448 inhabitants (as of 2005) and an area of ​​190.70 km². Hals has been part of Aalborg Municipality since the beginning of 2007 .

The last mayor before local government reform was Bent Sørensen from the Danish Social Democratic Party .
