The Hamann GmbH is a company for vehicle tuning and vehicle manufacturers . The former owner and namesake is Richard Hamann (* April 14, 1957, † March 17, 2011), who had more than 20 years of motorsport experience. For example, he has won the Special Touring Car Trophy three times in a BMW M1 . The Hamann vehicles have already had over 700 races, including more than 300 podium places. The following brands are refined by the company: Mini , BMW , Fiat , Porsche , Land Rover , Bentley , Ferrari and Lamborghini .

Hamann GmbH was founded in 1986. At first, they specialized in the refinement of BMW vehicles. A turbocharged version of the BMW M3 of the E 30 series was developed. The car developed 256 kW (348 hp), had a top speed of 273 km / h and accelerated to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds.

Hamann subsequently expanded its tuning program for BMW automobiles. Today the company is one of the world's most renowned and largest providers. In 2002 Hamann expanded the tuning program to include Mini, Range Rover and Porsche in addition to the brands BMW and Ferrari. Since 1997, Hamann Motorsport has also offered the refinement of Mercedes-Benz and smart automobiles in the Opera Design division .

In autumn 2003 the tuning company moved into its 10,000 m² new headquarters in Laupheim , which is approx. 6 kilometers from the old location ( Hüttisheim near Ulm ).
