The place is in the Bergedorf district within the Vierlande on the northwestern edge of the Hamburg-Kirchwerder district at the intersection of Durchdeich with the Ochsenwerder Landscheideweg / Süderquerweg road and on the former route of the Hamburg Marschbahn . It is bordered to the east by the largest Hamburg nature reserve Kirchwerder Wiesen , to the west by the district of Ochsenwerder . To the southwest of the village lie the Hohendeicher See and the Elbe , to the north of which the Gose-Elbe runs .

The structural settlement of Fünfhausen runs mainly around the southern and eastern edges of the “Sandbrack” pond.

Municipal facilities in the village are the elementary school Fünfhausen-Warwisch and the volunteer fire brigade Fünfhausen-Warwisch. For local public transport, the place is served by the daily bus lines 122, 124 and 224 as well as the school bus lines 222 and 422 of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (as of 2020). The largest bus stop in town is Fünfhausen (Durchdeich) .

For the election to the Hamburg citizenship and the district assembly , Fünfhausen belongs to the constituency of Bergedorf .

In 1944, 50 wooden houses were built for bombed-out families during the Second World War . The settlement was popularly known as "Kistendorf". Before that, there were accommodations of a labor camp at the same location. To date, only houses with wooden cladding have been built at Durchdeich 110. On October 11, 1954, the Federal President Theodor Heuss visited the Vierlande , including Fünfhausen. The Fünfhausen volunteer fire department was founded in 1972. It was created after the "civil protection of the population" was dissolved. From 1911 to 2013 the "Hamburgische Gartenbauversuchsanstalt Fünfhausen" was located west of the Sandbrack.

To this day, areas in Fünfhausen are being developed for single and multi-family houses.
