Neuland ( Low German : Neeland ) is a Hamburg district in the Harburg district .

geography

Allotments, moats and businesses in new territory

The area around the Großmoorbogen is characterized by industrial and commercial enterprises. To the north of Neuländer Straße there are allotment gardens and to the east of the A1 motorway there are almost only meadows and fields. A commercial area with a logistics park is to be built near the Harburg motorway junction located here. The area is to be up to 34 hectares and will be built in the late 2010s.

Neighboring communities

The Süderelbe , whose northern bank belongs to Wilhelmsburg , flows north of Neuland . Neuland borders the Harburg district to the east, Gut Moor to the south and Harburg to the west .

history

New territory was created at the end of the 13th century through the cultivation of fertile banks of the Elbe with its flood zones. In 1937, what had previously been new territory in Prussia , like some other municipalities in the district, became the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg through the Greater Hamburg Act .

Millennial yew

The Schweenssand nature reserve is located in new territory. There is an 800 to 1000 year old yew tree . It is considered to be the oldest tree in Hamburg. Furthermore, the Neuland Wiesen nature reserve and the Neuland nature reserve are located in Neuland.

Water ski facility on Lake Neuland

Sports

TSV Neuland plays in the District League South. There is a water ski facility at Lake Neuland. There is also the Neulander Yacht Club.

Neuland is located on the Federal Motorway 1 with the Hamburg-Harburg junction and Bundesstraße 75 with the Hamburg-Neuland junction.

The nearest train station is the Hamburg-Harburg train station with long-distance, regional and S-Bahn trains and a bus station for local and regional transport. From here Neuland is opened up with the two bus routes 149 (via Neuländer Elbdeich to Over) and 349 (ring line over the Großmoorbogen) within the Hamburg transport network.

education

The Neuland elementary school, the smallest independent school in Hamburg, and the Elbcampus , the education and competence center of the Hamburg Chamber of Crafts, are located in Neuland .
