history

On July 1, 1927, Stellingen-Langenfelde was incorporated into Altona, and on April 1, 1938, Altona was incorporated into Hamburg. It has belonged to the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel district since 1949.

traffic

The place is on the Altona-Kieler Chaussee , which was developed from 1830 to 1832 as one of the first "art roads" in Schleswig-Holstein. It later became Reichstrasse, now Bundesstrasse 4 .

The construction of the federal motorway 7 has reduced its importance for long-distance traffic, but it is now a motorway feeder to the Stellingen junction.

In 1884 the AKN Eisenbahn opened the line from Altona to Kaltenkirchen with a stop in Langenfelde. In 1911 the route was moved to a dam and the stop in Langenfelde was closed. Since 1962 Langenfelde has a langenfelde station of the S-Bahn Hamburg . It offers a connection in the direction of Holstenstrasse or downtown Hamburg.

Today the lines S3, S21 and temporarily A1 run here.

The Lens

The state railway had reserved extensive area between the route of the AKN and the railway to Kiel . Since it was not in use, it was leased to allotment gardeners. In the 1960s, the former housing cooperative Langenfelde eG (today "Baugenossenschaft Hamburger Wohnen eG" merged with the Baugenossenschaft Hamburg Nord-Ost eG in 2007) began using this site for housing construction. In this way, with the help of the architect Bernhard Dexel, an "island" was created between the tracks, called "The Lens" because of its shape.
