The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg) is Hamburg's development bank . It supports the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in housing and economic development as well as in environmental protection and innovation projects . The forerunner of the IFB Hamburg was the Hamburgische Wohnungsbaukreditanstalt (WK), which was further developed on August 1, 2013.

organization

The Hamburg Investment and Development Bank works on behalf of private individuals, companies and institutions on behalf of the public . It supports the Hanseatic City of Hamburg in structural and economic policy, social policy and in fulfilling other public tasks. With IFB Hamburg, all funding programs for housing, business, innovation and the environment have been bundled in one institute. With the exception of Hamburg, all other federal states , the federal government and the EU already had such a non-profit development bank.

The current legal basis goes back to the law on the further development of the Hamburg Housing Credit Institution to become the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank. IFB Hamburg is owned by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. This is incumbent on Anstaltslast and guarantor liability.

IFB Hamburg is part of the compensation scheme and deposit protection fund of the Federal Association of Public Banks in Germany (VÖB).

history

The WK was further developed on August 1, 2013 on the basis of the decision of the Hamburg Parliament of April 5, 2013 to become the IFB Hamburg. The former WK and the Hamburg Innovation Foundation have merged into the IFB Hamburg . Innovationsstarter GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of IFB and has its offices in the same building.

Activities and funding programs

In the advisory center, companies and start-ups receive qualified information on all funding and advisory offers in Hamburg as well as at federal and EU level. IFB funding consists of low-interest loans , grants , credits and guarantees that are granted for the following areas:

  • Housing construction : IFB Hamburg supports the construction and modernization of rental apartments and homes in Hamburg with low-interest loans and ongoing grants. This is intended to create sufficient affordable living space for less well-off citizens.
  • Environment and energy : In order to reduce CO 2 emissions, energy-efficient new residential construction, modernization of residential buildings and investments in resource-saving technologies in commercial enterprises are promoted. In addition, the greening of roofs is subsidized.
  • Economy : IFB Hamburg promotes small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), grants loans to founders and successors and offers support in increasing the energy efficiency of production and systems.
  • Innovation : To strengthen Hamburg as a central business location in Germany, IFB Hamburg supports innovative projects by founders and established companies. In this area, the IFB awards grants or loans and makes investments.
