history
The first publisher of the newspaper was Hermann Heinrich Hollen from Schiffbek . From 1712 to 1714 he initially published the "Holsteinische Zeitungscorrespondenten". On April 29, 1721, the newspaper appeared again as the "Holsteinischer Correspondent". From 1724 the newspaper was called Hamburgischer Correspondent .
In 1731 Hollen handed the newspaper over to his son-in-law Georg Christian Grund . After his death, the newspaper remained in the family ownership of the "Grund'schen Erben".
For a long time the newspaper was "the most widely read and most influential paper in Europe".
From 1870 to 1874 Julius von Eckardt was editor-in-chief. Hermann Dietz was editor-in-chief from 1899 to 1906 .
During the Weimar Republic, the newspaper was published by the Hamburger Börsenhalle GmbH and served as the party newspaper of the German People's Party (DVP). The edition of earlier years was no longer achieved. In 1934 the sheet was taken over by the publishing house Hermann's Erben and appeared only as a subtitle of the Hamburger Nachrichten .
