Hamidreza Ayatollahy

Hamidreza Ayatollahy ( Persian حمیدرضا آیت‌اللهی; * April 8, 1959 in Kerman , Iran ) is an Iranian religious scholar and university professor of philosophy who is also involved in the Muslim-Christian dialogue. He is a professor at the Department of Philosophy at Allameh Tabatabai University .

He is the President of the Iranian Society for Philosophy of Religion (انجمن علمی فلسفه دین ایران / Iranian Association for Philosophy of Religion) and former director of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies (پژوهشگاه علوم انسانی CSو مط for Humanities and فر Studies) ).

According to his own account, he pursued Islamic studies from 1975 to 1985 at the Islamic Institute (in the Tehran district of Lalehzar ), in 1985 he obtained his BS degree in Applied Physics (Solid State) at the University of Tehran , and in 1989 his MA in philosophy there, in 1998 Ph.D. in philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium .

In the areas of teaching and research, he says he specializes in the history of modern and contemporary Western philosophy, philosophy of religion, comparative philosophy, Islamic philosophy, science and religion, general logic.

He was one of the Muslim participants in the 8th Colloquium of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations (Sāzmān-i Farhang wa-Irtibāṭāt-i Islāmī, English Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO)).
