The Hamline University is a private university in Saint Paul in the US state of Minnesota .

The Hamline University was in 1854 as a Methodist private university in Red Wing , Minnesota founded. Its name is derived from the Methodist Bishop Leonidas Lent Hamline , who made the university possible with a private donation of US $ 25,000.

The Hamline University was the first higher educational institution of the state. Since it was founded, Hamline students have been taught co-educational , which was a rarity in the USA in the 19th century. Today Hamline has around 4,400 students.

Faculties

According to the US News & World Report , Hamline is the best university in the state in a number of subjects. The university is best known for its College of Liberal Arts and School of Law . The latter offers both a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.

Cooperations

The Hamline University cooperates with the University of Trier in various fields . The focus of the cooperation is on the subjects of sociology and media studies . There has been a lively exchange of lecturers and students since the late 1990s. The University of Trier arranges free study places at the US partner university every year.

Others

The Nacel International High School is also located on the university campus . It is an international school that houses the main office of the Nacel International organization .
