The Hampelspitze is a 1020 m high mountain near the Scott coast in East Antarctica Victoria Land . At the southeast end of the Deep Freeze Range, it rises east of Priestley Glacier and northwest of Browning Pass .
Scientists from the German expedition GANOVEX IV (1984–1985) named it after Herbert Hampel, who was involved as a pilot in the GANOVEX IV flight mission. He died in 1985 on his return flight from Antarctica when the research aircraft Polar 3 was shot down in Africa.
