Han-Hendrik Piho (born April 24, 1993 in Võru ) is an Estonian Nordic combined skier and ski jumper . He took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics for Estonia .

Career

Nordic combination

Although it has never been used in the Nordic Combined World Cup , it was allowed to take part in the 2011 Nordic World Ski Championships in the Norwegian city of Oslo . In the individual on the large hill he took 50th place and together with Kail Piho , Karl-August Tiirmaa and Aldo Leetoja, 12th place in the team competition.

On March 3, 2012 he made his debut for Estonia in the Nordic Combined World Cup at the World Cup in Lathi . On his first appearance he finally finished 48th and was unable to collect any World Cup points.

He collected his first World Cup points in the 2012/13 season . At the World Cup in Ramsau on December 15, 2012, he finished 16th after jumping and had to be content with 28th place and three World Cup points after cross-country skiing. After participating in all three Nordic Junior World Ski Championships between 2010 and 2012 , he also took part in the 2013 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in the Czech city of Liberec . On January 23, 2013 he finished jumping on the 13th place and was able to secure the bronze medal in the subsequent cross-country skiing over the 10 kilometers.

After the Junior World Championships, he also took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , Italy . In the Gunderson competition on the normal hill, he achieved his best result with 33rd place. While he and Kail Piho took tenth place in the team sprint on the large hill, he and Kail Piho, Karl-August Tiirmaa and Kristjan Ilves took eleventh place in the team competition on the normal hill. At the end of the season he finished 66th in the overall World Cup with a total of three points.

His best result so far in the World Cup he achieved on January 5, 2014 at the World Cup in Tchaikovsky . After he finished jumping in 14th place, he improved to eleventh place in cross-country skiing. He finished the season in 49th place in the overall standings with a total of 29 points.

After he started in all four competitions at the World Championships in 2013, he started in only two competitions at the Nordic World Championships in Falun, Sweden in 2015 . In the individual competition on the normal hill, he took 38th place and in the team competition he took tenth and last place together with Kail Piho , Kristjan Ilves and Karl-August Tiirmaa . He qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Russian city of Sochi and was also nominated by the Eesti Olümpia Committee . In the Olympic Gunderson competition on the normal hill he finished 43rd and 36th on the large hill.

He took part in the 2017 Nordic World Ski Championships in the Finnish city of Lahti . He started again in all four competitions and was able to achieve his best individual result on the large hill with 39th place. Together with Kristjan Ilves he finished 12th in the team sprint and together with Kail Piho , Karl-August Tiirmaa and Kristjan Ilves he finished ninth in the team competition.He could not qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang .

Ski jumping

In his home country he takes part in the Estonian Summer Ski Jumping Championships in summer and was able to win tenth place in the individual competition at the 2011 Estonian Summer Ski Jumping Championships and the bronze medal in the team competition together with Mats Piho and Kail Piho .

family

He is the younger brother of Kaarel Piho , Kail Piho and Mats Piho . Both Kaarel and Kail are Nordic combiners . While Kaarel has already ended his career, Kail, like Han Hendrik, is still active. Mats Piho has also ended his ski jumping career.
