Karl-August Tiirmaa (born July 7, 1989 in Võru ) is an Estonian Nordic combined athlete who is also occasionally active as a ski jumper .

Career

Karl-August Tiirmaa has been winning medals at the Estonian championships in ski jumping since 2003 . In team competitions he always competes with Artti Aigro and Mihkel Oja .

He made his international debut as a combined athlete at the B World Cup on March 11, 2006 in Vuokatti , where he was 47th. On January 14, 2007, he made his debut in a team competition in Lago di Tesero in the Nordic Combined World Cup .

On January 31, 2009 Tiirmaa managed to achieve a top 30 position for the first time at the Continental Cup in Titisee-Neustadt with a 23rd place and thus to achieve his first points. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso , he then reached 45th place in the Gundersen individual from the normal hill and over five kilometers and 34th place over ten kilometers. In the team competition he finished eleventh together with Kaarel Nurmsalu , Kail Piho and Tanel Levkoi . At the following World Championships in Liberec in 2009 , Tiirmaa achieved places 55, 39 and 52 in the individual competitions and ninth place in the team competition together with Kail Piho, Kaarel Nurmsalu and Aldo Leetoja . In the following years he also took part in the World Championships in Oslo in 2011 , in Val di Fiemme in 2013 , in Falun in 2015 and in Lahti in 2017 , but achieved positions beyond the top 30 in the individual competitions and also only in the bottom positions in the team competitions.

In 2014 Tiirmaa qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi alongside Ilves and Piho . He was ranked 44th in the competition on the normal hill and also ranked 44th on the large hill.
