Han Canal

The Han Canal ( Chinese  邗 沟 , Pinyin Hán gōu ) is a canal under King Fu Chai of the ancient state of Wu in 486 BC. Canal built towards the end of the spring and autumn annals . It was first created on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and connected it to the Huai He River near the city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province .

This was the beginning of the construction of the Great Canal or Beijing-Hangzhou Canal (Jing-Hang yunhe), which later extends from Beijing in the north to Hangzhou in the south.
