history

As early as 1907, municipal commercial college courses were held in the old town hall . In 1915 it became a commercial college , which was soon relocated to the building of the Steindammer School in 3rd Fließstraße 1 due to the enormous popularity. In 1928 there were already 600 students. On November 24, 1930, the Graduate School was a ceremony in the city hall , the doctoral degrees awarded. On the same day, the foundation stone for the new university building was laid by the Prussian Prime Minister Otto Braun am Oberteich . The new building was built by the architect and Prussian building officer Hans Malwitz at a cost of 1,113,000 Reichsmarks.

The commercial college was the only one in East Germany and had nine professors, 28 lecturers, 234 students and 88 guest students in the winter semester 1937/1938; the library contained 47,000 volumes. In addition to the twelve seminars, there was also the Institute for Technology and Goods Science, the Institute for Office Economics and the Institute for Cooperatives. During the time of National Socialism there were three comradeships at the commercial college : "Henning Schindekopp", "Samland" (ASpV East Prussia) and "Memelland".

The Mannheim Business School, founded in 1946, sponsored the Königsberger Handelshochschule in the early 1960s. The files were handed over to Mannheim in 1970.

Remarks

  1. ASPV East Prussia and the border of East Prussia had the same name, but completely different compounds.
  2. Henning Schindekopp and Memelland were old manors without old gentlemen's association.
