Herbert Schack
Herbert Eugen Alfred Schack (born October 28, 1893 in Eisenberg , East Prussia , † February 15, 1982 in Berlin ) was a German economist .
Life
The son of a Protestant pastor put Schack in 1914 at the high school to Braunsberg the High School from. Afterwards he studied theology and philosophy at the Albertus University in Königsberg for one semester . When the First World War broke out , he joined the foot artillery regiment 1 as a volunteer and joined the field in early January 1915. For this he resigned in 1918 as a lieutenant . Since Easter 1918, Schack studied philology , philosophy, law and economics in Königsberg . He was a member of the Arminia IV fraternity in the General German Burschenbund , which became a Landsmannschaft in 1927 . 1920 doctorate he at Albert Goedeckemeyer to Dr. phil. and in 1922 Dr. rer. pole.
From 1923 he was a scheduled assistant at the State Science Seminar of the Albertina . Habilitated in 1924 , he was appointed to the chair of economics at the Königsberg commercial college in 1926 . After the National Socialists had pushed him out of office in 1933, he worked in banking and insurance and for the educational organization of the Christian Association of Young Men . In the post-war period he worked for the Central Statistical Office in Berlin from 1946 to 1948 . After founding the Free University of Berlin , he was given a lectureship in economics and business philosophy . There he taught for many years and made a name for himself as a critic of Marxism .
