Jennifer Cardini (* 1974 in Nice ) is a French DJ and musician. Her musical focus is on minimal techno , electro and house .

Life

Jennifer Cardini grew up in the port city of Nice in the south of France. As a teenager, she first went to one of the local clubs , where Laurent Garnier played , among others . Her interest in electronic music was aroused and she began to buy numerous records, which were mainly influenced by the music genres Detroit Techno , Chicago House and Acid House .

Cardini soon began to DJ himself in French clubs. At first she mostly played house. Her first single, which she released on Pumpkin Records in 1996 , was an acid house piece.

After moving to Paris in 1998, she was one of the first French DJs to embrace the concept of minimal techno. She became resident DJ at the Paris nightclub Rex Club , where she continues to play regularly to this day. Her appearances in the small lesbian club Le Pulp , which developed into a center of the avant-garde underground music movement in Paris, had a significant influence on her further musical career . Together with other DJs from the Parisian scene such as Chloé and Ivan Smagghe , she achieved international fame and played in European clubs such as Fabric in London or the Panorama Bar in Berlin. She released further EPs and remixes on the labels Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee Records , Kill The DJ and Output , among others .

In 2008 she was the first female French artist to sign with Kompakt . Her mix CD Feeling strange was released there .

In 2010 Cardini founded her own label Correspondant . She lives in Cologne today.
