The catchment area of the BBZ for craft trainees, who deepen and expand their practical knowledge in the inter-company apprenticeship instruction, always includes five districts in southern Lower Saxony, sometimes all of Lower Saxony. Young adults come from all over Germany to attend the master's school in one of the 15 trades offered.

The unemployment qualification and support for the disadvantaged offered by the Chamber are an important structural policy instrument and contribute to avoiding unemployment through further training.

As a provider of technically practical qualifications, commercial and business training and IT qualification, the BBZ is of national importance. It supports companies in the further training of their employees. In view of the structural change that is exerting great pressure on the skilled trades to adapt, companies are interested and at the same time required to keep the qualifications of their workforce at a high level. More know-how and thus job security is also an incentive for employees to improve their personal career opportunities at the BBZ with special advanced and advanced training courses regardless of the employer.

history

100 years of the Hildesheim Chamber of Crafts - a chronicle

In autumn 1899 the first elections for the formation of chambers of crafts took place in various administrative districts of the country. 25 members were elected from the guilds, five members from the trade associations and eight members for the journeymen's committee. The respective substitutes were elected in equal numbers.

On April 5, 1900, the elected members for the Chamber of Crafts of the Hildesheim district were invited to the constitution. Master baker Söhlemann from Hildesheim was unanimously elected as chairman of the chamber in a separate ballot. Master painter Borgmeyer, master shoemaker Köhler, both from Hildesheim, master carpenter Reuse from Osterode and master carpenter Fremdling from Göttingen were also elected to the board.

The city of Hildesheim was designated as the seat of the chamber. The first office of the Chamber of Crafts was set up at Augustastraße 22. The office was later moved to Steingrube 32, and in 1910 to Einumer Straße 91. In 1932 they moved into the building at Braunschweiger Straße 53, where the Chamber of Crafts is still located today.

In 1912, the bone carving office building could again be used by handicrafts. The inauguration took place on April 3, 1912. At that time, the Chamber of Crafts used the guild hall of the bone carver's office for their general meetings, which gave the event a worthy setting. The first general assembly there took place from April 29th to April 30th, 1913.

Partnership with the Angoulême Chamber of Crafts

A partnership has existed between the cities of Angoulême and Hildesheim since 1965 .

In May 1968 the partnership between the Hildesheim Chamber of Crafts and the Angoulême Chamber of Crafts was established. Over the years, both chambers have endeavored to deepen their friendly relationship by exchanging ideas and experiences. To this day, there is a mutual exchange of trainees, journeymen and masters from various professional groups at regular intervals.

In October 1980 the partnership was extended to the French city of Périgueux . These contacts, which were once established for official reasons, have long since become private for many craftsmen and their families.

Press and public relations

The official press organ of the Hildesheim-Südniedersachsen Chamber of Crafts is the business newspaper Norddeutsches Handwerk , which is published by Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft in Hanover and is jointly published by the Chambers of Crafts in Lower Saxony and Magdeburg .
