Michael Knauth (born February 11, 1974 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) is a German visual artist .
Life
Between 1990 and 1993 Knauth trained as a carpenter . In 1997 he began his studies in painting and graphics at the private institute for training in fine arts and art therapy in Bochum , which he completed in 2002. Initially active as a painter, since 2003 he has concentrated on concepts. In the same year he was a founding member of the Querschlag artist group together with Dirk Hanus , Peter Piek and Michael Goller . Since 2007 he lives and works in Gornsdorf and Chemnitz .
Michael Knauth took part in numerous exhibitions of the PPZK - Peter Piek Center for Culture , a producer gallery founded in 2002 , which moved to Leipzig in 2003 .
Works
In 2007 he realized the installation “We are God” in the St. Ignatius Church in Chomutov, Czech Republic , in which 24 inflated sex dolls hung from the church ceiling.
