The Trier Chamber of Crafts is one of 53 chambers of crafts in Germany. The chamber district with the independent city of Trier and the districts of Bernkastel-Wittlich , Bitburg-Prüm , Vulkaneifel and Trier-Saarburg corresponds to the area of ​​the Trier planning region (former Trier administrative district ).

The Trier Chamber of Crafts also represents the interests of the approximately 7,000 associated craft businesses and craftsmen in the chamber district, which employ around 38,000 people, train around 3,200 apprentices and generate sales of around EUR 4.0 billion (as of the end of 2018). As part of its membership in the working group of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Crafts, the German Chamber of Crafts (DHKT) and in the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), the Trier Chamber of Crafts participates in legislative initiatives, comments in writing and at hearings on all drafts of legislation relevant to the craft and makes its own proposals to improve the political framework.

In particular, the Trier Chamber of Crafts is involved in economic policy initiatives in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Trier region. It maintains contact with parliaments and authorities, carries out economic observations, creates statistics and economic reports from them and carries out extensive press and public relations work for the skilled trades.

The range of services offered by the Trier Chamber of Crafts includes consulting services in the areas of training, corporate management, organization, the environment and technology transfer. In addition, the Chamber works closely with the District Trade machinations together Trier-Saarburg and Mosel-Eifel-Hunsrück region (MORE), representing the interests of 2,000 guild enterprises represented.

Since it was founded on April 1, 1900, another focus of the Trier Chamber of Crafts' tasks has been to promote professional qualifications. This includes inter-company training as well as the implementation of advanced training courses and master preparation courses and the holding of specialist lectures. There are two vocational training and technology centers in Trier and Kenn as well as another training center in Gerolstein .

A wide range of vocational training and further training takes place in these facilities, such as inter-company apprenticeship training (ÜLU) and training to become a master craftsman. A large number of seminars, courses, professional preparation, full-time training and individual qualification measures, both in the industrial-technical as well as in the commercial area, rounds off the extensive offer in the training centers.

In total, the training centers have 700 practical workshop spaces as well as around 500 theoretical teaching spaces.

The Chamber of Crafts includes the owners of a business of a craft or a craft-like trade in the Chamber of Crafts district as well as their journeymen , other employees who have completed vocational training and the apprentices of these traders. The Chamber of Crafts also includes people from the craft who independently carry out a so-called non-essential activity of a craft. This is stipulated in Section 90 (Paragraphs 2 to 4) of the Crafts Code.

The members of the Chamber of Crafts send their representatives to the General Assembly, which consists of 27 people. 18 assembly members represent the self-employed and 9 the employees . The general assembly can complement each other by electing a maximum of 3 expert persons. The general assembly in turn elects the board of directors from among its members, which consists of the president, 2 vice-presidents (one of them from the employee side) and 6 other members (two of them from the employee side).

The management, which consists of full-time employees of the Chamber of Crafts, is also elected by the general assembly. The board is responsible for the administration of the Chamber of Crafts.
