Hanife Gashi (* 1968 , SFRJ ) is a writer .

Life

Hanife Gashi was in 1968 in what was then the Yugoslav republic of Serbia belonging to the autonomous province of Kosovo was born, which is the Republic of Kosovo today. After a forced marriage in Kosovo to a man from a neighboring village, she came to Germany in 1989 with her husband and their first daughter Ulerika. When Ulerika was 16 and fell in love with an Albanian boy without his father's permission, the father killed the girl. In her book Hanife Gashi tells her life story, which is shaped by her forced marriage and the honor killing of her daughter.
