Hanna Barth

Hanna Barth (* 1911 in Koblenz ; † February 15, 1961 in Würzburg ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

In 1931, Hanna Barth studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and philosophy and mathematics at the University of Munich , before moving to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich , where she was trained by Hermann Groeber . In 1933 she moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig to Paul Horst-Schulze and Hugo Steiner-Prague . After stations in Dresden and Leipzig, where she worked as a lecturer, she moved to Bayreuth during the Second World War .

From 1945 onwards she organized a literary-musical salon in her apartment, the “Evenings in the Colmdorfer Schlösschen ”. She supported her husband Herbert Barth in 1947 in organizing the Bayreuth Weeks for New Music and in founding the Bayreuth Institute for New Music. She was part of the founding of the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists .

From 1955 to 1960 Hanna Barth was involved in the Free Group Bayreuth as a visual artist. Her paintings, composed in oil and tempera, address urban moods and landscape sketches. With her social commitment, Hanna Barth was one of the driving forces behind the Free Group.
