Hanna Kvanmo
Hanna Kristine Kvanmo (born June 14, 1926 in Sandtorg near Harstad , † June 23, 2005 in Arendal ) was a Norwegian socialist politician .
In 1944, as an 18-year-old nurse for the German Red Cross , she was deployed on the Eastern Front. At the end of the war she was working in Berlin . From 1967 to 1975 she was a member of the local parliament of Rana .
From 1973 to 1989 she was a member of the Socialist Left Party in the Norwegian parliament , from 1977 as its group leader . Kvanmo represented the Nordland constituency there . She was a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1991 to 2002 , as Vice-Chair from 1993 to 1998, and she was a delegate to the UN General Assembly in 1975 and 1981.
In the 1980s she was considered one of the most popular Norwegian politicians. She spoke fluent German and English.
