Hanna Ralph , born in Johanna Antonia Adelheid Günther , (born September 25, 1888 in Bad Kissingen , † March 25, 1978 in Berlin ) was a German actress .

Life

At the age of six, Hanna Ralph was already on stage as an angel in a fairy tale. In 1913 she made her debut at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt , in 1914/15 she worked at the Stadttheater Mainz and in 1916 at the Stadt-Theater Hamburg . From 1917 she acted on various stages in Berlin.

She played in many important German films of the 1920s, including Algol. Tragedy of Power (1920) directed by Hans Werckmeister , as Brunhilde in Die Nibelungen (1924) by Fritz Lang , Helena (1924) by Manfred Noa , Faust (1926) by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau and as Madame Bertrand in Napoleon on St. Helena (1929) by Lupu Pick .

After 1929, Hanna Ralph rarely appeared in films. She was last in front of the camera in 1952. Her last stage engagements were in the 1937/38 season at the Münchner Kammerspiele and a little later at the Deutsches Theater Berlin .

Hanna Ralph was married to the actor Emil Jannings around 1920 and later also temporarily to the director Fritz Wendhausen . In 1968 she received the gold film tape for many years of outstanding work in German film.
