Hans Gottfried "Hanne" Wilfert (born March 26, 1921 in Rodewisch ; † May 25, 1994 ) was a German jazz musician .

Live and act

Wilfert learned to play the violin at the age of seven; at the music school in Lengenfeld he also studied trumpet , tenor horn and saxophone . After serving in the military, he played in American clubs and then in Joe Wick's band, before joining Kurt Edelhagen in 1949 . With this he played as a set leader and soloist initially in Nuremberg. An offer from the WDR to participate in Adalbert Luczkowski's orchestra in order to convey jazz-oriented phrasing to the musicians could not be realized. After four weeks he returned to Edelhagen to play with him for the Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden. In 1957 he switched to the RIAS dance orchestra under Werner Müller , and from 1962 until the band split up, he played at Edelhagen in Cologne. In 1982 he worked with Paul Kuhn's orchestra , then as a freelancer and as a lecturer at the Cologne University of Music . In addition to numerous radio recordings, he was also involved in recordings with the aforementioned orchestras, with Kurt Weg , as well as under his own name and with Ladykiller . In 1986 Wilfert was the first flugelhorn player to accompany Ernst Mosch on a tour . After his concertmaster Franz Bummerl was canceled for a short time, Wilfert was able to step in spontaneously thanks to his virtuosity, without having played in popular wind orchestras beforehand.
