Hannes Fazekas (born December 9, 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and executive employee . Fazekas was most recently a member of the Austrian National Council from 2015 to 2016 and had previously been a member from 2006 to 2013.

education and profession

Hannes Fazekas attended elementary school between 1970 and 1974 and then moved to the Realgymnasium, which he attended until 1979. He entered the executive service in 1979 and passed the civil service promotion test between 1984 and 1986. From 1995 to 1996 Fazekas passed the law school entrance examination , and in 2006 he resigned from the executive service.

Political career

Fazekas has been a member of the SPÖ since 1983 and was active as a board member in the Rannersdorf section from 1995 . Between 2000 and 2002 he was city councilor of Schwechat and responsible for the youth and schools agendas. Since 2001 he has been chairman of the SPÖ Schwechat community party and from 2002 to 2013 mayor of Schwechat. Since October 30, 2006, Hannes Fazekas has represented the SPÖ in the Austrian National Council. He held a mandate from the regional constituency 3 (Lower Austria) and represented the SPÖ in the XXIII. After Hubert Kuzdas renounced his mandate at the end of August 2015, Fazekas took over on September 15, 2015, after an absence of almost two years, his now vacant National Council mandate in the Lower Austrian constituency . When the Minister of Education and Women's Affairs, Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek, left the federal government in May 2016 , she accepted her mandate, so that Hannes Fazekas left the National Council.

Fazekas has been married since 1985 and has three daughters.
