Hanover online library system

The Hanover Online Library System ( HOBSY ) in Hanover is a computer-aided system created in the mid-1990s for online research and lending of books from academic libraries and the city libraries of Hanover. A user card for the local union catalog is a prerequisite for borrowing on site .

The framework concept for the OPAC was created in August 1987 by four academic and the Hanover City Library. The OCLC PICA library system was introduced by a ministerial decree of August 1992. Since the end of 1994, the participating online catalogs have been indexed uniformly, so that since 1997 a joint catalog has been made available online on the Internet.
