Hanns Bastanier

Hanns Bastanier (born December 24, 1885 in Berlin ; † January 16, 1966 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Hanns Bastanier was a son of the professor at the Berlin School of Applied Arts Ernst Bastanier. He tried different techniques in his father's studio. From 1903 to 1907 he studied sculpture with Janensch and Breuer at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. From 1925 he devoted himself to painting (mainly landscapes) and after 1930 he created various enamel works and watermarks . He also made a variety of bookplates . Bastanier was most important in the etching technique .

During the Second World War , Hanns Bastanier lost his family and his works. In 1951 he moved from Berlin to Müllheim in southern Baden.
